We, EqUUal Access, affirm our commitment to the inherent dignity and worthiness of every person, including transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals. A business resolution (page 21-23) was overwhelmingly passed by the 2024 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association. Our faith calls us to actively resist discrimination and promote the full humanity, inclusion and equity, of transgender people in all aspects of society. This commitment is rooted in our belief that transgender, nonbinary and gender expansive people are an integral part of our religious community, as a part of our society at large.
At the heart of our values is the recognition that each individual has the right to live authentically and free from prejudice. This includes disabled transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive individuals who are associated with Unitarian Universalist congregations and groups.
The Transgender Religious Professional Unitarian Universalists Together (TRUUsT) network further underscores the importance of supporting transgender individuals within our congregations and beyond. Their advocacy and presence contribute to the vibrant tapestry of our faith community. This includes disabled transgender, non-binary and gender expansive people who are involved with TRUUsT and EqUUal Access.
Together, we strive to create a world where transgender people are affirmed and respected, where their contributions are valued, and their expressions upheld as valid. By embracing transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive people and fostering inclusive spaces, we embody the values of justice, compassion, and love that define our Unitarian Universalist faith.
